It's Our Earth is proud to announce the winners of our First Annual "UPCYCLED ART CONTEST".    We had a fantastic exhibit of very creative entries and had over 600 ballots cast.  A Big "Thank You" to all of the  artists who submitted works - your ingenuity and creativity was extremely inspirational.

Submission: Bottle Cap Pin / Brooch - Bottle Caps artistically decorated with fun upcycled charms and beads - applied pin backing allows art to be worn and displayed on your shirt, sweater, or coat.

Functional : Lexi

Submission: 9 Drawer Treasure Box - Using recycled materials - Tissue Paper, Cigarette Packs, Form Packaging, and left over ribbon - created a 3 tier slide out drawer treasure box.

UpCycle Art Contest

In preparation for the upcoming 40th Year Celebration of Earth Day,  It's Our Earth will be sponsoring it's 1st annual  "UpCycle Art Contest".   Download our Art Contest Flyer and Entry Form.

Upcycling : "The practice of taking something that is disposable and transforming it into something of greater use and value” - “The goal of upcycling is to prevent wasting potentially useful materials by making use of existing ones. This reduces the consumption of new raw materials when creating new products. Reducing the use of new raw materials can result in a reduction of energy usage, air pollution, water pollution and even greenhouse gas emissions".

A recent episode of Project Runway challenged the designers to create Party Wear from Potato Burlap Sacks.   We thought this was FUN !!  The designs are cool - the Models Hot!  They did a super job.  Want to see more Burlap - Click here. 

As cool as these outfits were, they will not really be coming to our shelves ;-)  We will however continue to create fun and exciting Burlap creations to complement our BurlapZ™ Messenger and Market Tote Bags !
